WILDERNESS VAGABOND is how I view myself, at least when I can escape from the pull of modern conveniences, and return to exploring the great natural areas of the earth. It wasn't until my mid-40's that I made my way to Alaska, where I feel that I found my personal niche. I have paddled over 800 days in the Tongass rainforest, from Misty Fiords to the outside coast of Glacier Bay N.P. These adventures have rekindled my passion for photography, providing me with a way to share the experience of this great temperate rainforest and the tremendous diversity of wildlife that lives there.
While focusing on kayaking and the rainforest, I have begun to return to old favorite places around the American West. Living in the San Francisco Bay area provides an astounding diversity of ecosystems to explore. The Grand Canyon always beckons, as too Death Valley and the High Sierras. Possibilities abound.
